Description

Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. This position involves assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and enhancing their quality of life. The DSP works closely with clients to ensure their physical, emotional, and social well-being in the community and in the home. The hours for this specific part-time position are 15 hours a week. 

Duties

  • Transport client to various community activities that support her individualized Service Plan.
  • Monitor participants for any changes in condition.
  • Assist with mobility and transportation needs to facilitate community involvement.
  • Observe and document client behavior, progress, and any significant changes in health status.
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to provide comprehensive support.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism.

Skills

  • Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities and autism is essential.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of client information.
  • Previous experience as a Direct Support Professional settings is required.
  • Proficient in communication both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Proficient in patient observation skills.
  • Ability to assist clients in their living environments while promoting independence.
  • Skills in meal preparation that cater to dietary restrictions or preferences of clients.
  • Understanding care principles to effectively support clients with cognitive impairments.
